DONALD MELVIN KNIGHT “PEANUT BRITTLE MAN” age 87, of 778 Chambers Loop Road, Timberlake, NC died Saturday afternoon, December 3, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Knight was born May 24, 1929 in Hopewell, VA to the late William Cary & Gladys Knight and was husband of more than 59 years to Mavis Emerson Knight who survives. He was retired from auto sales and was a veteran of the US Air Force.

Although he retired many years ago, Don enjoyed being a salesman and delivery man of his daughter’s peanut brittle which he did right up until his death.  Many people around town knew him only as “The Peanut Brittle Man”.  He also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, the harder, the better.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Christine K. Gellenbeck & husband, Don, Lorraine K. Holloway all of Hillsborough, NC, five grandchildren, Nicholas Banta & wife, Jessica, Matthew Leishear & wife, Arinc, Taylor Holloway & fiancée, Claiborne Brewer, Anna Holloway, Michael Holloway, three great grandchildren, Alyssa Leishear, Konrad Banta and, Claiborne Brewer, Jr. and his four cats which he loved dearly. 

The family will have a private service at a later date.
