ESTHER GRINSTEAD KNOTT, age 79, of 901 Ridge Road, Roxboro, NC died Sunday night, September 11, 2016 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilation.
Mrs. Knott was born on April 5, 1937 in Person County, NC to the late Albert Yancey & Viola Allison Grinstead and was wife of 30 years to the late Sterlin Beryle Knott. She attended grades 1-10 at Hurdle Mills School and went on to finish grades 11 & 12 at Helena High School. She worked at Leggett Department Store until 1965 and Roxboro Manufacturing from 1967 till 1971 then moved on to Piedmont Technical Institute where she graduated in cosmetology with 1350 hours in 1972 which she retired from after being self-employed for many years.
Surviving are three sisters, Evelyn Warren, Lillian McKee, Mac Carr and Billie West. A host of nieces & nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Knott is preceded in death by three sisters, Jennie Lee Tatum, Lottie Love Clay, Nell Dean Grinstead and brother, Lawrence Grinstead.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church by the Rev. Gerald Thomas. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Pam & Wilson Wagstaff, 5166 Leasburg Road, Roxboro, NC.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell Carr, Trent Knott, Randy Tatum, Thomas Tatum, Earl Warren and Eric Warren.
