LARRY RANSOME CLAYTON age 73, of 1248 Ridge Road, Roxboro, NC died Wednesday afternoon, November 2, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Clayton was born December 17, 1942 in Person County, NC to the late Matt Ransome & Mary Samantha Blanks Clayton and was husband of 43 years to the late Elaine Lankford Clayton.  He was retired from Embarq, worked as a funeral assistant at Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services and was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Bridget C. Shaw & husband, Kendall of Timberlake, NC, son, Brent R. Clayton & wife, Dawn of Roxboro, sister, Reda C. Compton & husband, Charlie Buck of Richmond, VA, four grandsons, Joseph Clayton, Clayton Shaw, Alex Shaw and Jeremy Shaw.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, 2016 at North Roxboro Baptist Church by the Rev. Ben Durand and the Rev. Herbert Brown.  Interment will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 1:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service and other times at the home.    

Pallbearers will be James Carver, Reed Marston, Blake Morris, Fillmore Puett, Ronnie Pulliam and Marvin Strickland.  Eddie Buchanan, Darrell Clayton, Wimp Clayton, Bob Coleman, David Good, Rickie Roberson and Tommy Stone will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made to the North Roxboro Baptist Church General Fund, 115 School Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.
