MARTHA MARLENE LONG CARVER, age 82, of 110 Clayton Street, Roxboro, NC died Friday morning, November 25, 2016 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Carver was born on December 25, 1933 in Person County, NC to the late Napoleon Bryant & Lula Mae Hobgood Long and was wife of 53 years to the late Floyd Harson Carver. She graduated from Dan River High School at age 17, retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. and was a member of Montwood Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Teresa C. Shotwell & husband, Mike of Roxboro, Shelby C. Locklear of Timberlake, brother, Arnold Long & wife, Mary Alice of Southport, NC, three grandchildren, Tracey Oakley Waller & husband, Mike, Trey Oakley, Brittany Shotwell Guthrie & husband, Jason, six great grandchildren, Casey Dunn, Kayla Waller, Michael Waller, Julianna Oakley, Marcie Oakley and Callie Oakley.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Carver is preceded in death by a grandson, Floyd Nelson Oakley, son-in-law, Garland Locklear, four sisters, Lovie Sue Long, Fannie Thomas, Lillie Mae Tingen, Garnette Eakes, four brothers, Herman Long, Marvin Long, Raymond Long and Eugene Long.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Montwood Baptist Church by the Rev. Carroll Bracket.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.      

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Clayton, Hughie Holt, Joshua Holt, Earl Franklin Shotwell, Frank Shotwell, Lacie Tate and Mike S. Shotwell.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Montwood Baptist Church Building Fund, 4416 Boston Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
