Patrick Henry "Pat" Woody, Jr.

August 12, 1934 ~ January 7, 2018 (age 83) 83 Years Old

PATRICK HENRY “PAT” WOODY, JR. age 83, of 10205 Boston Road, Roxboro, NC died Sunday night, January 7, 2018 at his home.

Sunday evening, one of the best men we ever knew, went home to be with Jesus.  Patrick Henry Woody Jr. or Pat was born on August 12th, 1934.  Pat Woody Sr. and Hattie Wilborn Woody raised Pat Jr. and his 2 older sisters, Wiloree and Mary on a large farm in the Bethel Hill Community.  There weren't a lot of material things over the years, but love and laughter abounded.  Fishing, catching lightening bugs and playing in the creek created hours of fun for Pat, Mary and Wiloree.  Pat grew up playing multiple sports, but especially enjoyed the high school football team, which was coached by his Father, Pat Sr.  Pat and his father always had a shepherd's heart, and tried to help anyone in need or lonely.  After serving his country in the army in Korea from 1955-1956, Pat came home and set out to become a farmer in the Bethel Hill Community.  In 1959 Pat met a lovely young lady at the Chevrolet Dealership in Clarksville, VA who quickly stole his heart.  Gwen and Pat married in 1960 and three children: Mary, Jackie and George were born.    Pat raised tobacco, wheat, corn, cows and pigs on the farm.  The whole family pitched in and though the work was hard, we had many memorable times laughing and talking together.  We were taught to respect and love all people.  Our home was always filled with friends, whether it was playing basketball after church on Sunday or around the table for a meal.  All were loved and all were welcome.  God and family were most important and for this we are forever grateful. We thank Pat, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather for his legacy of love.  We promise to strive to keep it going.  We love you!

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Mary Woody Driskill & husband, Steve of Ringgold, VA, Jackie Woody Tate, son, George Woody & wife, Laura all of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Landon Whitlow, Meghan Whitlow, Dane Driskill & wife, Callie, Ethan Driskill, Jackson Woody, two great-grandchildren, Camryn Wagner, Della Rose Driskill, two sisters, Mary Woody Jacobs & husband, Joe and Wiloree Woody Johnson & husband, Sam.
