Brooks Neal Stewart

BROOKS NEAL STEWART, age 92, of Roxboro, NC died Tuesday night, December 10, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Stewart was born February 15, 1927 in Person County, NC, son of the late Camel Wright & Luna O'Jean Stewart and was husband of 57 years to the late Edna Phelps Stewart.  Before retirement, he worked with the NCDOT in Durham County, was a member of McGhee’s Mill Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

Surviving are four children, Jimmy Phelps & wife, Betty of Philadelphia, PA, Deby Weaver & husband, Brad of Roxboro, NC, Brent Stewart & wife, Donna of Philadelphia, PA, Grace Gonzales & husband, Fidencio of Roxboro, NC, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Stewart is preceded in death by brother, Wright Stewart, and sister Patsy S. Regan.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Frankie Reaves officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Hawkins, John Hazel, David Hess, Charlie Buck Oakley, Ryan Shytle, and Richard Smith.  Honorary pallbearer will be Rainey Phelps.
