BURLEY REAVES HAMLETT age 84, of 215 Reams Ave., Roxboro, NC died Tuesday afternoon, August 6, 2019 at the VA Medical Center.
Mr. Hamlett was born November 17, 1934, in Person County, NC son of the late Howard Hamlett & Theresa Rose Hall. He was retired from Wynn Oil, was a member of Cavel Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the US Army. Burley was a member of The Roxboro Elks Lodge for 36 years and Roxboro Country Club for many years. He enjoyed playing baseball in his younger years and became fond of golfing, bowling, and flying with his son Michael in his later years.
Surviving are three children, Kenneth “Ken” Hamlett & wife, Michelle of Temple Terrace, FL, Michael Hamlett & wife, Jeanne of Raleigh, NC, Dana H. Woodham of Roxboro, NC, seven grandchildren, Ashley Wilcox & husband, John, Bryan Hamlett, Andrew Hamlett & wife, Maria, Ignacio Oteiza, Beatrice Hamlett, Kaitlyn Hamlett, Sommer Woodham, five great grandchildren, Michael Christian Hamlett, Lily Wilcox, Violet Wilcox, Juniper Wilcox, Primrose Wilcox, and the mother of his children, Shirley S. Hamlett.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hamlett is preceded in death by a brother, Nason “Sonny” Hamlett, and sister, Margaret H. Phipps.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2019 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Hal Dickerson officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.
