JAMES SAMUEL “JIMMIE” HORNBUCKLE, JR. age 81, of 805 Medford Oakley Road, Rougemont, NC died Monday night, April 9, 2018 at his home.
Mr. Hornbuckle was born September 22, 1936 in Granville County, NC son of the late James Samuel & Susie Adcock Hornbuckle and was husband of 59 years to Rachel Daphine Allen Hornbuckle who survives. He was retired from Parker Industries after 12 years of service, was a member of Mt. Harmony Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army where he served with the Guided Missiles.
Jimmie also worked on elevators while serving his country and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Curtis Hornbuckle & wife, Suzanne, David Hornbuckle, daughter, Betsy H. Bowes & husband, Haywood all of Rougemont, NC, three sisters, Lodemia Morris of Rougemont, NC, Rose Owle & husband, Jim of Sanford, NC, and Mildred Frances Woodlief & husband, Pimbo of Brassfield, NC.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hornbuckle is preceded in death by a brother, John Henry Hornbuckle and sister, Alice H. Morris.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 13, 2018 at Mt. Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the church and other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Bannister, Trent Cothran, Jay Jennings, James Mangum, Craig Moore, and Scott Sides.
