James Thomas Weaver, Sr.

JAMES THOMAS WEAVER, SR., age 87, of 4935 Allensville Road, Roxboro, NC passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Mr. Weaver was born October 4, 1931 in Person County, NC, son of the late Lonnie Johnson Weaver & Eva Oakley Weaver and was husband of 69 years to the late Jane Matilda Robinson Weaver.  He was retired as a self-employed farmer and was a member of Allensville United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and also in the Quartet.

Mr. Weaver enjoyed listening to and making music, watching Nascar, hunting, and spending time with his family.  He was a member of the Gideons, Board of Directors for the NC Pork Producers Association where he was awarded Outstanding Pork Producer in 1991, and Person County Farm Bureau. 

Surviving are four children, James T. “Jimmy” Weaver, Jr. (Deborah) of Semora, NC, Susan Lynch (Kenny) of Graham, NC, Steven Weaver (Tammy), Lori Jane Weaver all of Roxboro, NC, eleven grandchildren, Chris “C.J.” Weaver (Lori Ann), Katherine Scott (Phillip), Angie Corbett (Steven), Kenny Lynch, Renee Lynch, Cory Lynch, Autumn Roberson (Ken), Jessica Flanders (Jon), Hannah Stone (Justin), Katie Morse, Rebekah Weaver, twelve great grandchildren, Sara Weaver, Scott Grant, Thomas Weaver, Jojo Scott, Ricky Snead, Christian Corbett, Easton Link, Arianna Corbett, Amber Flanders, Landon Rodriguez, Baylee Jane Stone, Alana Cruz, great-great grandchild, Briley Grant, and sister, Shirley Yarbrough.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Weaver is preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Krystal Grant and sister, Dorothy Wilson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Allensville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lindsey Collins officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests Friday, August 30, 2019 from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Keith Brann, Ricky Brann, Barry Gentry, Justin Stone, Chris Weaver, and Larry Weaver.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be, Bobby Brann, Wilbur “Stump” Brann, Pee Wee Harris, Dennis McCullough, Bobby Oakley, Bill Oakley, Coy Oakley, Lee Oakley, Mark Yarbrough, and Mitch Yarbrough.
