Ora Christine (Phillips) Hatcher

ORA CHRISTINE PHILLIPS HATCHER age 81, of 1115 Cedar Grove Church Road, Roxboro, NC died Sunday afternoon, July 22, 2018 at her home.

Mrs. Hatcher was born October 26, 1936 in White County, TN daughter of the late Omer Estel & Ollie Susan Smith Phillips and was wife of 49 years to the late William Thomas “Bill” Hatcher.  Upon her retirement from Collins & Aikman Corp. after 25 years of service she worked at The Courier Times for 13 years, was a member of the Roxboro Church of God and was a founding member of Theresa Baptist Church.

Surviving are four children, Darlene Dickerson & husband, Doug, Susan Brandon & husband, Jabbo, Michael Hatcher & fiancée, Robin Daughrity, Denice Nelson & husband, Flop, four sisters, Versa Branconnier, Thelma Durham, Bessie Parker, Mary Ann Dotson, three half-brothers, Dennis Phillips, Ray Phillips, Jeff Phillips, fifteen grandchildren and thirty-five great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Hatcher is preceded in death by four brothers, Richard Phillips, Artee Phillips, Jim Phillips, Paul Phillips, three half-brothers, Michael Phillips, Gary Lee Phillips, and John Phillips.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Norman Talley officiating.   Interment will follow in the Burchwood Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 1:30 till 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.          

Pallbearers will be Dustin Amos, Allen Bowes, Jason Branscome, Billy Bray, Nathan Gilliland, and Sam Knight.
