Shirley Ann (Shelton) Aiken

SHIRLEY ANN SHELTON AIKEN age 81, of 606 Tonker Drive, Roxboro, NC, surrounded by her family, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, June 21, 2019 at Duke University Hospital.

Mrs. Aiken was born March 25, 1938 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Willie and Myrtle Brown Shelton.  She was retired from Western Electric/AT&T and was a charter member of Somerset Baptist Church.  Mrs. Aiken enjoyed mowing, tending her flowers, watching gameshows and sports, doing crossword puzzles, spending time with her church family where she helped with Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she will truly be missed by all.

Surviving are two children, Susan A. Hudson of Roxboro, NC and granddaughter, Ashton Hudson of Raleigh, NC, Donald Aiken and wife, Robin and granddaughter, Kira Aiken all of Charlotte, NC, three sisters, Elsie Suitt, Faye Shelton, and Linda Davis and husband, Grant, all of Roxboro, NC. Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Aiken is preceded in death by two sisters, Ida S. Jeffreys, Frances S. Langford, and brother, Billy Shelton, Sr.

A celebration of life will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Somerset Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Gearhart officiating. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Somerset Baptist Church and other times at the home.
