THELMA PAULINE STEPHENS WHITE, age 98, of 10 Lonesome Pine Trail, Riverside, AL and formerly of Roxboro, NC passed away Thursday morning, August 29, 2019 at her home.
Mrs. White was born February 2, 1921 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late John Ira & Nettie Mae Hamlett Stephens and was wife of the late William Garland White. She was retired from Eaton Corp. and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Thelma enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cooking and going places with her best friend, Clara Rose.
Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie W. Brock of Riverside, AL, sister, Shirley S. Gentry of Roxboro, NC, four grandchildren, Byron Bowes (Melissa) of Burnsville, NC, Jason Bowes (Kelly) of Cropwell, AL, Lynn Moore (Les), Janet Gay Daniel (Bobby), two great grandsons, Jarett Bowes, Tommy Hall, and a host of other great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. White is preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Mosley, Pansy Wilborn, Reable Painter, Violee Saunders, and three brothers, Joe Stephens, Otis Stephens, and Tony Stephens.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2019 in the Burchwood Cemetery with the Rev. Ross Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends and guests from 2:00 till 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services and other times at her former home, 1017 Ridge Road, Roxboro, NC.
Pallbearers will be Bill Dunkley, Keith Floyd, Marty Smith, Al Stephens, Craig Vann, and Ira Young.
