Barbara Jean (Bowling) Blalock

BARBARA JEAN BOWLING BLALOCK, age 82, of Roxboro, NC passed away Sunday morning, September 10, 2023 at AuthoraCare Collective, Burlington, N.C.

Mrs. Blalock was born September 22, 1940 in Durham County, NC, daughter of the late Floyd Henderson & Maggie Ola Taylor Bowling and was wife of the late Melvin Carl Blalock.  She was retired from the US Postal Service and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Surviving are two children, Jeffrey Blalock & wife, Amy of Stem, NC, Floyd Bryon Blalock of Danville, VA, eleven grandchildren, Fallon Vaughan, Monica Blalock, John Stancil, Mia Montez, Jeffrey Blalock, Tori Blalock, Ethan Blalock, Lindsey Blalock, Cody Blalock, Cassie Blalock, B.J. Blalock, thirteen great-grandchildren, and sister, Carolyn B. Luxton. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Blalock is preceded in death by a son, Jody Carl Blalock, siblings, Janie B. Williams, Alene B. Capps, Jeanette B. Pergerson, Joe Thomas Bowling, George Wesley Bowling, and Ronald Edward “Ronnie” Bowling.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023 in the Rock Grove Baptist Church parsonage, 3248 Allensville Road, Roxboro, NC, with Pastor Jeremy Quist and Jeffrey Blalock officiating.  Interment will follow at a later date in the Bowling Family Cemetery.
