Birch Monroe Bowes

BIRCH MONROE BOWES age 73, of 94 Mill Creek Road, Roxboro, NC died Monday afternoon, May 3, 2021 at UNC Hospital.

Mr. Bowes was born September 26, 1947 in Person County, NC, son of the late Monroe Douglas & Mary Bell Walker Bowes and was husband of 42 years to the late Rosa Mae Wade Martin Bowes. He was retired as a self-employed mechanic and was of the Baptist faith.  Birch enjoyed riding motorcycles, collecting various items (his grandchildren call it junk), bluegrass music, watching old westerns, fishing, riding around, and spending time with his family.

Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Bowes Bumpass of Hurdle Mills, NC, three grandchildren, Rebecca Harris, Brandon Bumpass, Erica Bumpass, two brothers, Edmond Wyatt Walker, Joel Thomas Bowes, sister, Mary Bowes Bowling, four step-daughters, Barbara Neathery, Sandra Martin, Glenda Bowes, and Shirley Martin.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Bowes is preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Wayne Bowes, and step-son, Maywood Miles Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2021 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. James Evans officiating. Interment will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Chris Bowes, Rodney Bowes, Brandon Bumpass, Eric Bumpass, Maurice Carr, and Bill Soden.
