Desmonia Duncan

DESMONIA DUNCAN, age 89, formerly of 2005 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC died Wednesday morning, January 6, 2021 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Duncan was born March 14, 1931 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Elbert Harvey Duncan, Sr. & the late Bertha Ellen Harris Duncan.  She retired after years of working for several manufacturing companies and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church.  Desmonia enjoyed the beach, music, doing yard work, flowers, and spending time with family. 

Surviving are a brother, Andrew “Sonny” Duncan & wife, Kathleen of Roxboro, NC, and a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her parents Ms. Duncan is preceded in death by a sister, Margie Clayton, and five brothers, Jessie Duncan, Lebbie Duncan, Elbert Duncan, Jr., Dolian Duncan, and Elbert Junious Duncan. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown and the Rev. Ben Francis officiating.  Interment will follow in the Theresa Baptist Church Cemetery.  Those wishing to pay their respects may do so between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, at the funeral home.    

Pallbearers will be Thedford “Rat” Clayton, David Duncan, Garry Duncan, L.H. Duncan, Jamie Henderson, and Alan Satterfield.  Honorary pallbearers will be, Steve Clayton, Terry Clayton, Will Dunkley, George Henderson, Charles Hicks, Kent Williams, and Barry Yeargan.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to Theresa Baptist Church, 3919 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
