Doris Marie (Tatum) Davis

DORIS MARIE TATUM DAVIS, age 88, of 1911 McGhee’s Mill Road, Roxboro, NC died Thursday morning, August 6, 2020 at her home with her loving family by her side.

Mrs. Davis was born August 13, 1931 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Joe Scott Tatum, Sr. & Lottie Alma Long Tatum and was wife of 57 years to the late Lester Hassel Davis, Jr. She was retired from CCB after 25 years of service and was a member of Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church where she was a faithful servant, former member of the choir and WMU, and was a former Sunday School teacher.

Doris enjoyed taking trips and spending time with her family.  She was very special to so many and loved by all.

Surviving are two children, Debra D. “Debbie” Pergerson & husband, Dennis, Gerald Dwayne “Jerry” Davis & wife, Ann all of Roxboro, NC, four grandchildren, Justin Pergerson & wife, Beth, Jason Davis, Sarah Davis, Drew Davis, two great grandchildren, Delana Pergerson, Sadie Pergerson, and sister, Carol Dean Trickey.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Davis is preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Brewer, Ellen Montague, Estelle Cox, and three brothers, Joe Tatum, Jr., Clyde Tatum, and Charles Tatum.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2020 in the Lamberth Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Jonathon Shattuck and the Rev. Gerald Thomas officiating. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so from 12:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services.  The family will receive guests at the home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Brewer, Charles Dickerson, Darren Dixon, Brian Lunsford, Thomas Tatum, and David Trickey.  Roy Huff and Jay Neville will serve as honorary pallbearers.
