Elsie Louise (Watson) Morris

ELSIE LOUISE WATSON MORRIS, age 71, of Durham, NC died Wednesday afternoon, January 29, 2020 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Morris was born January 22, 1949 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Reuben Estel & Lena Maye Carver Watson and was wife of 18 years to the late James Thomas Morris.  Prior to retirement she worked at Biomerieux and also worked for the Halifax County School System as a bus driver and in the cafeteria and was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.  Elsie enjoyed cooking, traveling, bowling, singing in the church choir, working with the Shriners, spending time with family and friends, but her greatest love was being with her granddaughters.

Surviving are three children, Paul Walker & wife, Janie of Alton, VA, Allison King & husband, Brian of Rougemont, NC, Michael Morris & wife, Amy of Durham, NC, two granddaughters, Whitney Renee Breeze, Hannah Elizabeth Morris, brother, Terry Lee Watson & wife, Linda of Semora, NC, nephew, Terry Wayne Watson, and special friend, Gene Edwards.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Morris is preceded in death by a daughter, Audrey Kaye Walker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 2, 2020 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Virginia Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Allison & Brian King, 405 Lakewinds Trail, Rougemont, NC.  

Pallbearers will be Rusty Cowan, Donald Fox, Dustin Fox, Tommy Keith, Joe Medlin, and Michael Womack.
