Erket Stewart

ERKET STEWART age 84, of 630 High Plains Road, Roxboro, NC, after several years of declining health died peacefully with his children by his side Tuesday night, April 20, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Stewart was born May 29, 1936 in Person County, NC, son of the late Shanks & Mayonia Epps Stewart and husband of 60 years to the late Lula Mary Martin Stewart.  He was retired after 30 years of service from Eaton Corp., retired from farming, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon for many years as well as various other committees.  Erket enjoyed gardening, hunting, cutting wood, being on his tractor, church, and spending time with his family.  

Surviving are three children, Greg Stewart of Roxboro, NC, Cindy S. Burbage & husband, David of Goose Creek, SC, Gloria S. Bryson of Columbia, SC, six grandchildren, Johnny Bryson, Robert Bryson, Jacob Burbage, David Burbage, Jr., Mike Burbage, Kirk Carver, eight great grandchildren, Aubrie Bryson, Kaylee Burbage, Jacey Burbage, Landon Burbage, Preston Pearson, Kasey Burbage, Christian Rasberry, Abby Williams, great-great granddaughter, Camilia Pearson, brother, Bisit Stewart, and sister, Nell Stewart.

In addition to his parents and wife Mr. Stewart is preceded in death by a brother, Joe Stewart, and two sisters, Eula Stewart, and Adell Stewart.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Martin, Rev. Jack Stewart, and Rev. Norman Talley officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Grady Martin, Sam Martin, Brad Morgan, Dennis Stewart, Gaylon Stewart, Paul Stewart, Harry Talley, and Robbie Whitfield.  Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Jones, and O.C. Martin.
