Eunice Sara (Carver) Jones

EUNICE SARA CARVER JONES, age 92, of 296 Carver Holt Road, Roxboro, NC died Monday afternoon, April 25, 2022 at Duke Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Jones was born November 22, 1929 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Charlie Wise & Emma Sue Paul Carver and was wife of 60 years to the late Herbert Cephus “Bud” Jones, Jr.  She was a nurse retired from John Umstead Hospital after 20 years of service and previously worked at Norfolk General Hospital and Municipal Hospital in Norfolk, and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, and a member of the Christian Women’s Club.  Eunice enjoyed doing arts & crafts and helping others.

Surviving are two children, Shirley J. King, Bobby Lee Jones, both of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Jeff King, Brandon Jones, Jeremy Jones, Stephanie Snead, Jesse Liddle, ten great grandchildren, three sisters, Susie Lee & husband, Ellis, Norma Jean Couture, Edna Clayton & husband, David, all of Roxboro, NC.   

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Coates, Mary Lupton, and two brothers, Peanut Carver, and Doug Carver.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 29, 2022 at Theresa Baptist Church with the Rev. Herbert Brown, the Rev. Cecil Coates, and the Rev. Ben Francis officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00 till 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of Shirley King, 332 Carver Holt Road, Roxboro, NC.

Pallbearers will be Chris Clayton, Steve Coates, Stacy Kendrick, Anthony Lee, Rodney Lee, and Bryson Pleasant.  Honorary pallbearers will be Earl Ray Carver, Linwood Clayton, Tim Wade, Women’s Adult Sunday School Class #4, and her nursing friends.

Mrs. Jones requested that no flowers be sent but instead to make a donation to Theresa Baptist Church, 3919 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, NC 27574 or to a charity of your choice.
