James Edward Carver

JAMES EDWARD CARVER, age 80, of 115 North Main Street, Roxboro, NC died Thursday afternoon, December 22, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side.

Mr. Carver was born April 14, 1942 in Person County, NC, son of the late James Floyd & Nellie Porterfield Carver.  He was a pharmacist retired from Cole’s Pharmacy and was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church.

James graduated from the UNC School of Pharmacy in 1972.  He was president of the Person County Group Homes, a long-time member of the Roxboro Area Chamber of Commerce, supporter of the Bowling League of Person County, and had a brick at the Shag Hall-of-Fame at Myrtle Beach.  He enjoyed shagging, UNC football and basketball, trips to the beach and Hyco lake, and supporting his grandchildren in their activities.

Surviving are two children, Robbie Carver, Christie C. Rochefort & husband, Steve, five grandchildren, Zachary Carver, Brandon Evans, Georgia Carver, Zoey Rochefort, Baylor Rochefort, mother of his children, Delores Brann Carver, and his Cole’s Pharmacy family, past and present.

Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 31, 2022 at Roxboro Baptist Church with Dr. DuPre Sanders officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Roxboro Baptist Church Columbarium.  The family will receive friends and guests from 10:00 till 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Those wishing to pay their respects may go by Cole’s Pharmacy and sign the register book.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Chandler, Al Cole, Bridget Jones, Warren D. Jones, Bob Morgan, Ben Tillett, and Dale Walker.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Person County Group Homes, P.O. Box 721, Roxboro, NC 27573.
