Johnnie Lee Montague

JOHNNIE LEE MONTAGUE age 65, of 9890 Boston Road, Roxboro, NC died Friday afternoon, July 9, 2021 at his home.

Mr. Montague was born October 3, 1955 in Person County, NC, son of the late Randolph Lantley Montague, Sr. and Rosa Etta Whitt Montague who survives and was husband of 40 years to Lillie Mae Pruitt Montague who also survives. He was retired from Clover Yarn and was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church. 

Johnnie enjoyed dogs, fishing, country and gospel music, and spending time with all of his family.

Surviving in addition to his mother and wife are a step-son, Rick Long of Roxboro, NC, four brothers, Jimmy Dean Montague & wife, Shelia, Tommy Wayne Montague & wife, Gail, Jerry Dexter Montague & wife, Bonnie, Larry Edward Montague all of Semora, NC, two sisters, Mary Carolyn Whitt & husband, Ben of Semora, NC, Jo Ann Palmer & husband, Butch of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.

In addition to his father, Mr. Montague is preceded in death by a brother, Randolph Lantley Montague, Jr., and sister, Wendy Darlene Newcomb.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 2021 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. David Bunch officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Dustin Montague, Jeremy Montague, Jerry Montague, Jr., Tommy Montague, Jr., Travis Montague, Jacob Palmer, and Joshua Palmer.  Honorary pallbearers will be Arnold Oakley, and William Penland.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ephesus Baptist Church, 1894 Ephesus Church Road, Semora, NC 27343.
