JOSEPH BRANN “JOE” OVERBY, age 76, of 804 Frank Street, Roxboro, NC died Monday night, February 20, 2023 at his home.
Mr. Overby was born January 4, 1947 in Halifax County, VA, son of the late Clarence Cornelius & Rachel Edna Howerton Overby and was husband of 9 years to Patsy Bowes Overby who survives. He was retired from Lewis Metal Works, was of the Baptist faith, and was a veteran of the US Army where he served in Vietnam.
Joe enjoyed working on antique cars, going to car shows, fishing, hunting, and softball.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Lisa Michelle Johnson & husband, Jason, Bobby Joe Overby, three granddaughters, Dixie Carter Overby, Sierra Hope Johnson, Katelyn Elizabeth Johnson, two sisters, Becky Parker & husband, Rufus, Ruth Nelson & husband, Charles, pet dog, Bo-Bo, special friends, Danny & Debbie Gravitte, and a host of nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Overby is preceded in death by a sister, Esther Overby.
Graveside Celebration of Life Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 in the Burchwood Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Talley officiating. The family will receive friends and guests at the home.
