KATHLEEN BOWES DUNCAN, age 85, of Roxboro, NC passed away peacefully Friday night, September 9, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. Kathleen was born July 26, 1937 in Person County, NC daughter of the late Elbert Anthum & Bernice Walker Bowes and was wife of 66 years to A.D. Sonny Duncan who survives.
She operated the Rocket Grill Restaurant in Roxboro, NC for over 12 years, was retired from manufacturing and was a member of Theresa Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Gail D. Ladd & husband, Doug of Rougemont, NC, Kim Henderson & husband, George of Leasburg, NC, David Duncan & wife Tammy of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Jamie Henderson & wife Julie, Jake Ladd, Brooke Ferrell, Carson Duncan, Zachary Duncan, three great-grandchildren, Harper Ladd, Cora Henderson, Tessa Henderson, brother, R. Wayne Bowes & wife, Connie, sister, Linda Duncan & husband, O.C., and sister-in-law, Linda Bowes, all of Roxboro, NC.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Duncan is preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Bowes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Herbert Brown and the Rev. Ray Pearce officiating. Interment will follow in the Theresa Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and sons-in-law, Carson Duncan, Zachary Duncan, George Henderson, Jamie Henderson, Doug Ladd, and Jake Ladd.
A special thank you to her family and friends, Medi Home Health and Hospice, Moses Hinton, Latoya Richardson, and Danielle Hazel for all the loving care and support for over the last two years.
