Mary Elizabeth (Pruitt) Barnette

MARY ELIZABETH PRUITT BARNETTE, age 61, 529 Barnette Tingen Road, Roxboro, NC passed away Monday evening, September 4, 2023 at Duke University Hospital.

Mrs. Barnette was born August 30, 1962 in Halifax County, VA, daughter of the late Richard Oliver & Mary Marie Keeton Pruitt and was wife of 21 years to Keith Long Barnette who survives.  She was office manager of Barnette Well Drilling, Inc., and was of the Baptist faith.

Mary enjoyed the beach, shopping, traveling, horseback riding, and spending time with her grandkids.

Surviving in addition to her husband are four children, Ashley Irby & husband, Joe, Katie Long & husband, Chris, Christina Reaves, Devin Barnette all of Roxboro, NC, six grandchildren, Alayna Myers, Caylee Myers, Jaylen Boone, Ryleigh Dean Irby, Alexander Bowen, Issiah Bowen, sister, Betty Gail Smith & husband, Homer, Sr., brother, Ronnie Pruitt & wife, Kathy.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Barnette is preceded in death by a son, Travis Barnette, daughter, Amanda Jordan, sister, Nancy O’Briant, and brothers, Fred Pruitt, and Andy Pruitt. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2023 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Mike Whitt officiating.  Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests from 6:00 till 7:30 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2023 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Russell Folley, Greg Hudson, Wyatt Hudson, Chris Long, John Myers, and Jarrett Shotwell.  Honorary pallbearers will be Richard Pruitt, and P.J. Smith.
