Melody Gray (Mitchell) Gilliland

MELODY GRAY MITCHELL GILLILAND, age 66, of 147 Pond View Road, Leasburg, NC, died Wednesday night, June 29, 2022 at her home.

Mrs. Gilliland was born December 20, 1955 in Gaston County, NC daughter of the late Clyde Dixon Mitchell & Effie Lee Williford Luck and wife of 21 years to Donald Tracey Gilliland who survives. She was formerly employed with Nortel and was of the Baptist faith.

Melody enjoyed the sun, spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, crochet, tending her flower garden, helping others, traveling to the beach and the mountains, and NASCAR. 

Surviving in addition to her husband are three children, Kendra Price of Leasburg, NC, Britnee Hardy (Reginald Ware) of Roxboro, NC, Adam Gilliland (Bethany) of Elgin, SC, nine grandchildren, Kailie Azbill, Kaitlynn Alton, Kelsee Alton, Kaydin Hardy, Colin Hardy, McKenna Ware, Ansley Gilliland, Aubrey Reeves, and Malachi Ware, sister, Linda Carol Michael (Wayne) of Creedmoor, NC and brother, Chris Luck, Sr. (Regina) of Raleigh, NC.  

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gilliland is preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Mitchell.  

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 2, 2022 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Tina Wallace officiating. Interment will follow in the Person Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and guests prior to the services from 1:00 till 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be, Charles Carr, Colin Hardy, Chris Luck, Jr., Chris Luck, Sr., Robert Smith, and Robert Watson.
