Pattie Cenia (Lunsford) Wilkins

PATTIE CENIA LUNSFORD WILKINS, age 92, of Oxford passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday afternoon, August 28, 2022.

Pattie was born in Person County, the daughter of the late James Clinton and Gladys Annie Dixon Lunsford.

She served in the Women’s Army Corp during the Korean War. After an honorable discharge, Pattie worked at Granville Hospital until her marriage to the late Brindell B. Wilkins, Sr. She and Brindell farmed until his death. Pattie was a devoted mother, Granny, and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family and friends. Pattie was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years, she was currently a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Pattie was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, as well as a longtime member of the Providence Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Donna Wilkins Snipes and husband, David Lyn, Brindell B. Wilkins, Jr. (Jenny), Elaine Wilkins Winters, and Joy Wilkins Boyd and husband, Donnie, her grandchildren, Melissa Loyd, Holden Wilkins and wife, Jessica, Meagan Bryan and husband, Niles, Katey Linder and husband, Jeremy, Madison Boyd (Trey), Leigha Boyd, and Barbara Snipes, her great-grandchildren, Luke, Kassity, Walker, Chesley, Brinlee, Ilijah, and Tuff, and sister Nettie Ann Hargis of Roxboro.

In addition to her husband and parents, Pattie was preceded in death by two brothers, James Hubbard Lunsford and William Lunsford, two sisters, Jane Critcher and Nannie Bote Andrews, and her daughter in law, Karen Wilkins.

Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1171 US 158, Oxford, NC at 11:00 am on August 31, 2022.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive visitors in the church fellowship hall prior to the service beginning at 10:00 am and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Niles Bryan, Jeremy Linder, John Lunsford, and Holden Wilkins.  Honorary pallbearers will be Luke Bryan, Ilijah Linder, Tuff Linder, Walker Loyd, and Chesley Wilkins.
