Sue (Clayton) Carver

BLANCHIE SUE CLAYTON CARVER, age 86, of 168 Summitt Street, Roxboro, NC died Friday morning, January 1, 2021 at Person Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Carver was born April 3, 1934 in Person County, NC, daughter of the late Walter Wright & Effie Oakley Clayton and was wife of 61 years to the late Henry Barnett “Peter” Carver, Jr.  She was a homemaker and was a member of North Roxboro Baptist Church.  Sue enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, sewing, flowers, and doing yard work. 

Surviving are four children, Nita Poindexter & husband, James of Semora, NC, Darnell Carver & wife, Vickie of Roxboro, NC, Jackie Carver & wife, Glynda of Bedford, VA, Tracey Carver & wife, Donna of Roxboro, NC, nine grandchildren, Jay Poindexter, Mandy Tirabassi, Stephen Poindexter, Travis Poindexter, Allison Barker, Clayton Carver, Brittany Carver, Joanna Carver, Amber Carver, six great grandchildren, two brothers, Ronnie Clayton & wife, Edith, Buddy Clayton & wife, Shelia, and brother-in-law, Randy Carver & wife, Polly all of Roxboro, NC. 

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Carver is preceded in death by a sister, Lois C. Hudson, two brothers, Elmo Clayton, Lennie Clayton, and a granddaughter, Beth Carver. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2021 in the Person Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Durand and the Rev. Jackie Carver officiating.  The family will receive friends and guests for one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.  Those wishing to pay their respects may do so between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Strickland and Jones Funeral Services.  

Pallbearers will be Clayton Carver, Chase Poindexter, Jay Poindexter, Owen Poindexter, Stephen Poindexter, and Travis Poindexter.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to North Roxboro Baptist Church, 115 School Street, Roxboro, NC 27573.
