Robert Campbell "R.C." Scott

ROBERT CAMPBELL “R.C.” SCOTT, JR. age 84, of 54 South 3rd Street, Roxboro, NC died Saturday morning, January 5, 2019 at his home.

Mr. Scott was born May 29, 1934 in Person County, NC son of the late Robert Campbell Scott, Sr. & Scottie Barnette Scott and was husband of 28 years to the late Betty Joan West Scott.  In his earlier years he worked for Western Electric and later retired from Progress Energy after many years of service, was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle and was a veteran of the US Army.

R.C. enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, wood working, being a servant to everyone, and was a very avid N.C. State fan but he was at his happiest when spending time with his family.

Surviving are four children, Bob Scott & wife, Kay of Cedar Grove, NC, Craig Scott & wife, Nena of Lynchburg, VA, Deborah Copeland & husband, Randy of Efland, NC, Darlene Brown & husband, Danny of Roxboro, NC, seventeen grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and step-daughter, Tammy P. Jones & husband, Brad of Hurdle Mills, NC.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Scott is preceded in death by two brothers, Lofton Scott, Graham Scott, sister, Emily Gillis, step-son, Donald Porterfield, and special friend, Christine Solomon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Josh Mickle officiating. Interment will follow in the Bible Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2019 at the funeral home and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Brown, Josh Brown, Travis Jones, Jordan Scott, Phillip Scott, and Seth Scott.
