Clyde Wesley Lyon

Clyde Wesley Lyon, 85, passed away on April 20, 2024 at the Veterans Administration hospital in Durham, North Carolina surrounded by his family.  He had been in failing health in recent months.

Clyde was born November 5, 1938 in Cleveland, Texas.  He was the fifth of seven children born to parents Joseph Bailey Lyon and Minta Ela (Cook) Lyon.

A proud Air Force veteran, Clyde served in bases across the globe including a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1966.  He retired from active duty after 20 years of service in 1976 and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Criminology from Saint Leo College in 1982.  Clyde worked in law enforcement in Virginia and Texas until he retired in the early 1990s.

A man of many talents, Clyde enjoyed hand crafts, road trips, and a good game of dominos.  A native Texan, Clyde and wife Pat spent the last 27 years living in Roxboro, North Carolina.

Mr. Lyon is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Minta Ela and sisters Carolyn, Vera Ruth, Mary Jane, Ida Jean, Vanita, and brother Charles.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Patricia Jean (Sinka) Lyon, son Paul Lyon and his wife Martha of Erwin, NC, daughter Catherine Lyon and husband James Fields of Cedar Park, TX, granddaughter Kelly Harrison and great granddaughters Alexus and Makenzie of Roxboro, NC, and grandson Daniel Lyon and wife Meybelline of Deltona, Florida. 

Clyde will receive full military honors at a funeral to be held at the Danville National Cemetery, 721 Lee Street, Danville, Virginia on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM.

Pat Lyon and family will host a gathering and pot luck for family and friends afterward at 2580 Burlington Road Roxboro, NC at 3:00 PM.
