LINWOOD ROBERT WATSON age 90, of 1704 Mollie Mooney Road, Roxboro, NC died Monday night, November 8, 2021 at his home.
Mr. Watson was born August 19, 1931 in Caswell County, NC, son of the late Dewey Daniel & Estelle Susie Ashby Watson and was husband of 63 years to the late Dora Orene Oakley Watson. He was retired from Collins & Aikman Corp. after 39 years of service, was a member of Timberlake Baptist Church, and was a veteran of the US Air Force.
Linwood enjoyed his model train sets, traveling, and taking train rides.
Surviving are two sons, Dale L. Watson & wife, Vickey, Rick L. Watson all of Roxboro, NC, two grandsons, Jason L Watson & wife, Hollie, Jeff L. Watson & wife, Jennifer, two great grandchildren, Morgan Watson, Hailey Watson, step-sister, McGruder Henderson, brother-in-law, Cecil Oakley & wife, Brenda, and sister-in-law, Mary Lee Currin.
In addition to his parents and wife Mr. Watson is preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Wilborn.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 in the Strickland and Jones Funeral Services Chapel with the Rev. Scott Day and Chaplin Melissa Fretwell officiating. Interment will follow in the Timberlake Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends and guests from 6:30 till 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at the funeral home and other times at the home of Dale & Vickey Watson, 1750 Mollie Mooney Road, Roxboro, NC.
Pallbearers will be Mickey Glasscock, Wendell Hudson, Scott Reaves, Brent Talley, Jason Watson, and Jeff Watson. Honorary pallbearer will be Doug Fletcher.
Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605.
