Moses Roosevelt Shepherd

MOSES ROOSEVELT SHEPHERD age 88, of 546 High Plains Road, Roxboro, NC died Monday morning, November 8, 2021 at Roxboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Shepherd was born December 5, 1932 in Person County, NC, son of the late Joseph Eddie & Lila Epps Shepherd and was husband of 61 years to Clara Ann Martin Shepherd who survives.  He was retired from the Person County School system after more than 20 years of service, was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he served as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher, was a Charter Council Member of the Sappony Tribe, and was a veteran of the US Air Force. 

Moses enjoyed working in his yard, servicing the people of his community, his church, and spending time with his grandkids. 

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Curtis G. Shepherd & wife, Suzy of Timberlake, NC, Lisa S. Harris & husband, Doug of Roxboro, NC, five grandchildren, Jay (Keeley), Krista (Mike), Justin, Olivia (Daniel), Emily, two great grandchildren, Isabella, Michael, Jr., and brother, Richard Shepherd of Selma, NC.

In addition to his parents Mr. Shepherd is preceded in death by seven brothers, Joe Bill, Jimmy, Harold, Keith, Noel, Cecil, Arthur, sister, Lila, two granddaughters, Kaitlyn, and Dakota.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Arthur Shepherd and the Rev. Vernon Wilkerson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Tom Epps, Tony Mills, Allen Stewart, Donnie Stewart, Marti Stewart, and Ricky Stewart.  Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Caldwell, Travis Carver, Jeffrey Jones, Kelly Small, and Lance Stewart.

Flowers are acceptable or memorial contributions may be made to the Sappony Youth Camp, P.O. Box 3265, Roxboro, NC 27573.
