DOUGLAS WAYNE BOWES age 66, of 1836 Halifax Road, Roxboro, NC died Friday afternoon, September 9, 2016 at his home.

Mr. Bowes was born December 8, 1949 in Person County, NC to the late Monroe Douglas & Mary Belle Walker Bowes and was husband of 45 years to Glenda Martin Bowes who survives. Until his health no longer permitted Wayne loved hunting, fishing and cars.  He was retired from the City of Roxboro and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Rodney W. Bowes, Chris M. Bowes both of Roxboro, NC, three brothers, Joel Bowes, Birch Bowes, Edmound Bowes & wife, Harriett, sister, Mary Bowling & husband, J.B., three grandchildren, Alex, Emily and Zach Bowes and a great grandchild, Camden Bowes. 

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2016 at Strickland and Jones Memorial Funeral Services by the Rev. James Evans.  The family will receive friends Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 7:00 till 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and other times at the home.    

Honorary pallbearers will be Ronald Bowes, John Bowling, Scott Bowling and Brian Porterfield.
